White-Eyed
Conure
Originates from
The Guianas, Venezuela, and eastern Columbia south to northern Argentina
and northern Uruguay.
This primarily
green conures weighs about 140 to 170 grams. Its distinguishing
featuring is red in the carpal edge and on the edge of the forewing
and yellow on the under wing-coverlets with a few scattered red
feathers on its head.
I find these
conures to be a little more shy than the cherry head or mitred conures.
Mine seem to be a little gentle and not as rough and tumble as their
cousins. They learn to say some words and like to engage in gentle
games with their owners. In my opinion only I find them more suitable
than some of the other green conure species for children though
there are always exceptions. Their noise level can be loud as with
any of the Aratinga species and should be considered before purchasing
if noise is a factor. They do not tend to scream for hours on end
and only are noisy for short periods of time if trained and kept
properly.
